Chinese medicine is an extensive range of medical techniques and practices having been practiced for over 2000 years. It has, however, evolved over the years. Chinese medicine operates around the idea that that qi, which is the body’s vital energy, flows through certain pathways or meridians that connect major organs and functions of the body.

The qi is affected by the yin and yang, which refer to the complementary forces that affect all aspects of life. According to the principles of Chinese medicine, for you to live a life of happiness and optimal health, the Ying and the yang must in complete balance and harmony. Chinese medicine also relies heavily on the theory of five elements.

The theory categorizes everything in the universe into five elements namely wood, metal, fire, earth and water. Each of these elements corresponds to a part of the body and when one element is off balance, the entire system ceases to operate as it should.

Some Types of Chinese medicine:

Massages are useful because they activate the body’s qi, creating a smooth flow that promotes good mental health and a relaxed mind. There are basically 2 techniques in this massage the first one is Tui na which pushing, kneading and stretching the muscle and the second is Zhi ya which is where the muscle is pinched and pressed on your acupressure points. Benefits of Chinese massage include more energy, stronger immune system, helps with lactic acid build up, sciatica, back pain, neck pain, better sleep, general aches and muscle pains, help with recovery of an injury etc.
